Our mission is: “TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO THOSE IN NEED WITH A SENSE OF COMMUNITY, COMPASSION AND RESPECT”
Eastern Emergency Relief Network Inc (EERN) is made up of a number of community based organisations (member agencies), currently numbering 111 who provide community support in the Local Government areas of Whitehorse, Manningham, Maroondah, Knox, Monash and Boroondara. These member agencies are the active arm who bring their clients in need to the warehouse for assistance.
The core objective of EERN is to hold an emergency repository of furniture, whitegoods, other household items and non-perishable food items and personal hygiene items.
At any given time, EERN needs good quality second-hand furniture and other household essentials, non-perishable food, financial assistance and, of course, volunteers.
EERN is overseen by a Committee of Management. It is made up of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and general committee members. These members come from a diversity of backgrounds and may possess skills needed to ensure that EERN runs to an optimal level. EERN is run and operated entirely by volunteers. There are no paid workers.
There has been publicity in recent years regarding third parties collecting donations for charities and only a very small percentage of the money raised going to the Charity.
EERN does not:
- Use third parties to collect and/or raise donations
- Employ a specific person to fundraise
EERN only uses donations for capital projects or to directly support its stated objective.
EERN receives some funding from the City of Whitehorse. It receives no recurrent Federal or State Government funding. Its financial viability is dependent upon donations, grants from philanthropic and charitable Trusts and Service clubs and fundraising. As a registered charity, all donations to EERN ($2.00 and above) are tax deductible.
