Despite the Manningham area’s perceived affluence, there are many people experiencing significant economic and social disadvantage. Doncare provides counselling for families and children; support following domestic violence; specialist intake and risk assessment; integrated family services; case management; emergency relief; social support for seniors and financial and material aid.
For many years, Doncare has worked in partnership with Eastern Emergency Relief Network to provide material aid to vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals and families in Melbourne’s inner east.

Testimonial: Rhanee and her three children were referred to Doncare’s Family Services by Child Protection, after police attended an incident at the home where her partner, the father of her children, had punched and kicked her.
“Having fled domestic violence, my family had been relocated in temporary housing multiple times. Doncare assisted me to secure rental accommodation and arranged collection of furniture and a fridge from EER” Rahnee said. “It really helped me create a safe space for my children”.
After working with the family for almost a year, for a special surprise, the DAWN mentor and Rahnee took the children to the snow for the first time. The children could not believe their eyes and told the mentor it was one of the best days of their lives.
Doncare’s DAWN program supports women recovering from the impacts of domestic violence.

elishacare was established 15 years ago to reach out to those that have found themselves homeless, addicted and incredibly broken.
elishacare is a not-for-profit community organisation and social enterprise aimed at rehabilitating drug and alcohol affected persons (often with complex needs including poor mental health).

We restore hope and health through employment in our social enterprise, housing and support. The strength of our program rests with peer support – provided by participants who have become free from addiction through their involvement with elishacare. We house these men, support on the recovery journey and even employ them as they rebuild their lives.
“We have loved our partnership with Eastern Emergency Relief Network as we set up homes to take in more men.”

Monash Waverley Community Information & Support (MWCIS) has provided information and assistance to people in the City of Monash for 51 years. For many years MWCIS’s main role has been to also provide Emergency Relief for individuals and families who are doing it tough and live in postcodes 3149, 3150, 3170, parts of 3125, 3147, 3148 and 3168.
MWCIS has been a partner with Eastern Emergency Relief Network over many years and has regularly referred clients with needs to EERN. As MWCIS cannot provide case workers, the MWCIS clients attending the EERN warehouse are assisted by the EERN volunteers to select and collect the agreed items.
A recent example of EERN co-operation with MWCIS is * ‘Erica’ who desperately needed household items for her family (including beds, chairs, desk, toaster & iron). These were sourced from the EERN warehouse during the COVID 19 lock-down.
“MWCIS is pleased to be able to partner with EERN as the access to furniture and other household goods allows MWCIS to better meet the needs of some of our clients”.

The Tenancy Plus program is one of the Support Programs within the Uniting Ringwood Crisis and Homelessness Service. It is an advocacy & support program for ‘at risk’ Social Housing tenancies.
A major part of the Tenancy Plus Program is supporting clients to establish new tenancies. A significant factor in setting up a new tenancy, is of course the ability to furnish their new home.
EERN has been instrumental in supporting our clients to do this successfully, by providing furniture, electrical goods, beds etc to our clients. The impact this has for our clients is profound. It allows our clients to set up a space that is purely theirs, creating a sense of pride and empowerment, which is a major factor in establishing successful and long-lasting tenancies.
